Dream Come True
2020
I dreamed that I was sitting on the carpeted stairs in a big empty commercial gallery/gift shop holding a tacky carved wooden elk with massive winding antlers that encircled its whole body. A woman who clearly worked there asked, as she passed me on the stairs, if I needed a bag for that. I told her politely that I did not, and that in fact I already had it when I entered the shop. As she reached the top of the stairs, I heard her tell another woman “that was Cindy Baker. It could hardly not be Cindy Baker, no matter what she tells you.” I was in awe that not only did she recognize me, but she seemed to think that I was significant enough that other people would care.
I dreamed I was wandering around in an upscale neighbourhood with Megan and we came across a faux-quaint thrift store. I wanted to go inside but Megan claimed that she hadn't been in a thrift store in almost 15 years and didn't want to break her streak. I went in and found this amazing old handkerchief that was hand-embroidered with a picture of 3 hats, and the words "Never Seen Before". I really wanted it but refused to pay the $18.95 price. I left empty-handed and regretted not buying it for the rest of the dream.
I dreamed that I’d set aside an artwork at a commercial gallery many years prior that I was planning to give to Jillian when I’d saved up enough money. It was a small yellow plastic coin with Scrooge McDuck’s face on it, but who the gallery kept referring to as Donald Duck. The fact that it was Donald is the reason they’d priced it so high, but I didn’t feel like arguing about it. I went to pick it up and pay for it, and it was $10. I wondered why I hadn’t been able to pay that amount years ago, but realized that we didn’t have PayPal that long ago, and that I’d never carry that kind of cash.
I dreamed that I told everyone I had selenite deposits growing in my throat, but it wasn’t true.
